Terms of use
Version v0.3 (17 Oct 2026)
Last updated: 17 Oct 2026
1. Who we are and who these terms are for
1.1 SilkRaven is provided by Kathryn Moore, SilkRaven, Marientaler Straße 4, 12437 Berlin, Germany ("we", "SilkRaven"). Contact: kat@silkraven.com.
1.2 SilkRaven is a production tool for game studios. It's offered only to businesses (Unternehmer, § 14 BGB): studios and the people who work for or with them. By accepting these terms for a studio, you confirm you may do so on its behalf.
1.3 These terms apply to every use of SilkRaven. A studio's own terms don't apply, even if we don't object to them.
2. Accounts
2.1 Each person needs their own account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used them.
2.2 The person who creates a project, or a studio admin, manages who is on it and what role they have. Members invited to a project use SilkRaven within the studio's arrangement with us.
3. What we provide
3.1 We provide SilkRaven as an online service, as described on silkraven.com and in the app at the time.
3.2 Early access. During early access SilkRaven is free of charge, and some features are still being built or may change. We'll tell you before we start charging; nothing becomes paid without your agreement.
3.3 We keep improving SilkRaven and may change or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what a paying studio uses, we'll tell it at least 6 weeks in advance and it may end its plan with a refund for the unused period.
3.4 We aim for SilkRaven to be available around the clock, but during early access we don't promise a particular availability. We announce planned maintenance in advance where we can.
4. Plans and payment (from the end of early access)
4.1 Paid plans, prices and what each includes are shown on silkraven.com or in the offer accepted for a studio. Plans are per project, with unlimited people.
4.2 A new project can start with a free trial. If no plan is chosen when the trial ends, the project becomes read-only: everyone can still view it and ask for an export.
4.3 Fees are paid in advance for the plan period.
4.4 If a payment is more than 14 days late after a reminder, we may make the studio's projects read-only until it's paid. We never delete data because of a late payment without warning the studio first.
5. Your content
5.1 Everything a studio puts into SilkRaven stays the studio's. We don't claim any rights in it.
5.2 The studio gives us the right to store, copy, display and process its content only as far as needed to run SilkRaven for it, and for nothing else.
5.3 For personal data in the studio's projects, the studio is the controller and we process it on its behalf under our data processing agreement (AVV), which forms part of these terms.
5.4 The studio can ask us for an export of its projects at any time (an export button is coming). When it ends its use of SilkRaven, it can ask for its export within 30 days; after that we delete its content, except where the law requires us to keep something.
6. Fair use
6.1 Use SilkRaven lawfully and only for your work. Don't upload content you don't have the rights to, malware, or anything illegal.
6.2 Don't try to get into other studios' data, test our security without our written permission, overload the service, or copy or resell SilkRaven.
6.3 SilkRaven isn't designed for sensitive personal data such as health information. Please don't record it about your team (for example in task notes) unless you really need to.
6.4 If someone breaks these rules or puts others at risk, we may suspend their access. We tell the studio first unless the risk is urgent.
7. Feedback
We'd love your ideas. If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve SilkRaven without owing you anything, and we never name you or your studio without asking.
8. Confidentiality
We keep each studio's projects confidential. Only the people the studio gives access to can see them. We look at a studio's content only when it asks us to (for example to help with a problem), or where the law requires it.
9. Our rights in SilkRaven
SilkRaven itself, its software, design and name, belongs to us. You get the right to use it during your plan or early access, for your studio's work.
10. Liability
10.1 We're liable without limit for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act, and where we've given a guarantee.
10.2 For slight negligence we're liable only if we breach an obligation that's essential to the contract and that you rely on (a "cardinal obligation"), and then only for damage that was typical and foreseeable when the contract was made. For paid plans, this liability is limited per year to the fees the studio paid in the 12 months before the damage occurred.
10.3 During free early access, we're liable only under 10.1 (intent, gross negligence, life, body or health, product liability, guarantees), as is usual for a service given free of charge.
10.4 Please keep your own copies of anything critical (you can ask us for an export). The database is backed up daily, but uploaded files aren't backed up, so keep originals of important files. We're not liable for lost data that a reasonable backup would have prevented, except under 10.1.
11. Ending
11.1 Early access: either side can end it at any time.
11.2 Paid plans run for the plan period and renew automatically unless ended before the renewal date. The studio can end its plan in the app or by email.
11.3 Either side can end immediately for a serious reason, for example a serious breach of these terms that isn't fixed after a warning.
11.4 After ending, section 5.4 applies (30 days to export, then deletion).
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when new features or plans arrive. We'll tell you at least 6 weeks before a change applies. If you object within that time, the old terms continue and either side may end the arrangement; if you don't object, the new terms apply. We'll remind you of this right when we tell you about the change.
13. Final points
13.1 German law applies; the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods doesn't.
13.2 The place of jurisdiction for all disputes is Berlin, Germany.
13.3 If a clause turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force.
13.4 Notices can be sent by email.
